Welcome to the cycle world of snobbery.
If you don't look the part by wearing cycle billboard clothing and riding a carbon fiber bike then your not part of the elite cycle world and they want nothing to do with you. Funny isn't it? Except when you have a break down and a bunch of billboard racing wanabe's ride by and not offer to help you...that makes you laugh too doesn't it! That happened to me just last week, when a group of cyclists riding one direction past a guy who had broken down and not one offered to help not alone even look at the guy, I was coming from the other direction and saw his blight and stopped to help and got him going. Maybe if he would have been a she, and the she would have to be attractive otherwise forget it, it would have been a different story with the cycle jerks all screeching to a halt and act macho to impress the lady with their know how and abs. I helped many people that remarked how many riders past them without stopping over the 40+ years I've been cycling...and I even help those who may be considered unattractive, or a "cheap" walmart type of bike, or a kid-those are all a big no no in the elite world of cyclery snobbery.
Oh let the flame wars begin...this ought to be fun reading all the post from those who have "excuses" for not stopping. Excuses like, I can't break my training routine, or they should carry their own tools and know how to fix their own crap, etc. I can't wait to read the posts, I need a good hearty laugh.
