Thanks for the advise. Maybe I can work out a deal with him.

Now i'm leaning towards simply go back to LBS and buy a bike from them with a peace of mind. Any suggestions for a hybrid bike around $400 to $500?

Also, when do stores generally hold those "end of year" sales? perhaps i can ride into a bargain.
