Yeah, that's too high, but you may not be able to get this guy to see reason -- particularly if the reason why he's selling it is because he bought it and then didn't ride it. People like that feel that what they're selling is practically new and they want a practically-new price for it. Explain to him about a)no warranty b)no way of knowing how much it's been ridden, or how well it's been cared for, or whether it's been damaged (although there are ways to intelligently guess, obviously). You might also ask for proof of purchase to verify that it's not stolen.
