This is probably my first time wandering in here. I'm actually more of a recumbent commuter.
I am looking at purchasing an old Proflex 756 from a friend. It has had the elastomers replaced with the ones from Rapid Descent and has been built up with XTR components. Would this be a good bike to use as an introduction to XC mountain biking?
My previous limited experience with MTBing is with old fully rigid bikes. My current MTB is a heavy, worn out low end early nineties rigid ***. So consequently I have only ridden the thing on flat, generally well groomed trails. I want to do more off road biking but don't like the pounding or poor brakes that my old bike gives me.
I will probably buy the Proflex anyway. I think it looks cool and my bike collection is missing any mountain bikes.
I just want to know if it will still be suitable to ride off road?
