As per battery life vs brightness - you don't get either for free.

Again, the Magicshine is the champ here, with 3hrs of super-high lighting. (This has been extensively tested and documented in the forums.) It has a special battery pack to make this possible.

If you use your light as a "be-seen" light, you can get days, weeks, even months of battery life, since you don't require a lot of light. However, if you're using your light as a "to-see" light, battery drain is very significant, and if you use an AA light solution, will definitely require daily recharges.
