bike trailer for Trike (again!)

Hi

My name is Kati. Spent ages typing up a post with links, went to preview it and it said I wasn't logged in (I was, had to log in to post!) and lost the post!

Basicially I want to fit a dog bike trailer to a Di Blasi R34 electric trike and wondering how it will be possible?

I'll type more if this post goes on cos it takes me ages to type!

ok that worked this is the Trike

Di Blasi Folding Products | Product Name Here

this is the trailer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clx0VcxzmAI

on Trike page is video of how it folds I wondered if someone who knows more about them and fitting bike trailers can tell me where it would be best to fit a bracket so it still folds?

I currently use a mobility scooter and constantly getting frustrated by barriers such as kissing gates and metal bars across. This trike could get under them and the trailer is also easy to fold down the top (removing from bike if necessary) to get round obstacles.

We've used these field for years and now they've put a gate up and there's a metal bar running across the height of top of gate. scooter and current trailer won't fit under but a folding trike would!

I found a bracket on Amazon thats meant to be for trikes but it doesn't show how it fits so wondered if anyone knew?

Thanks

Kati

Recommend going to a Bike Shop and buying a trailer* there where they may also help you figure out how you will, tow it
given that Trike is not a simple thing to attach a trailer to , like conventional bikes

* Burly Tail Wagon is a Bike-dog trailer , but it wont be plug and play on your motorized electric trike.

You may need a fabricator, say an aluminum welding/ machine shop, to custom make something to combine the 2..

My guess is thats for tadpole trikes .. 1 rear wheel and 2 in front, yours is the opposite.

ah right. .. Well my brother is pretty handy at welding, he made a custom bracket for my mobility scooter to fit a dog bike trailer.

I could get a electric trike with a basket on the back and maybe get him to change it to a box instead for dog to sit in. Problem is the ones I've found with a big enough basket are not folding one's and I still then have the same issue when we get to obstacles such as the bars to get under and those kissing gates etc..a large electric trike thats non folding would not get through.

I just wasn't sure due to how the Di Blasi bikes folded whether it was possible to have some kind of bracket fitted without it affecting its ability to fold? I emailed the company that made them. The person who sells them over in UK wasn't sure and said he would email Di Blasi but they haven't got back to me.

The only other thing I can think of is some kind of pannier bag that can be removed that the dog can lie on top of. now my younger dog could manage that using it for emergency...(injured paw, ride home etc) but my current old dog would probably fall off so needs the safety of a proper bike trailer or a basket/box with sides and a comfortable bed in to be able to come with us.

this kind of idea?

but was thinking of fabric where sides could be folded down if needed to get trike under any thing (obviously taking dog out first) I can't seem to find anything for bigger dogs though.

with a single rear wheel bike trailers tend to tow with the center line of the trailer in line with the left dropout where the hitch is attached

the scheme to sort out is towing it Centered..

Hola Kati

I purchased a first series Burley D'lite that was advertised on our local Craig's List for $75. When I asked if they would accept $50
- they said yes.

My Trike is of The Tadpole Design. Even so do as hinted and take your trike to a local Bike Shop or Welding Shop and they will
assist ya.

If battery box can be moved you can simply attach the hitch to the rear of the frame. You might be able to fabricate a mounting plate that puts the hitch below the battery but that might put the trailer tongue too low.

I have a Miami Sun standard adult trike. I needed a good heavy duty trailer, so went to Home Depot, and bought one of their John Deere green and yellow 4 wheel garden cart/trailers for around $70. The handle can be converted from pull by hand to pull by garden tractor. (or adult tricycle) by pullinh a pin.
1,000 pound load capacity.
I used it daily, until some lowlife motherless ... stole it (and a bunch of other stuff) while I was out of town.
