motor add to vintage lightweight

I need your suggestions for converting a vintage lightweight bike to electric power. A friend is thinking he would like to ride his early 70s Raleigh Competition more often and farther. He is the original owner an kept the bike even after losing one entire leg many years ago. Obviously he is attached to the bike and wants to "convert it" rather than getting a different ebike. He has ridden it after the amputation but he says it's not that much fun.
