Dux Helm - World's first cycling helmet with Retractable Removable Replaceable lens

Hello

I have placed a post in the Cycling forum a few days back regarding my first helmet product.
Our helmet has a practical lens which can be retracted within the helmet when not needed, can be quickly replaced or removed.

A forum member did not like the way I went about posting my thread, felt it was sneaky, as I did not reveal my identity.

I respect that, apologise if I caused any negativity.

But since there was quite a bit of interest in the product and some very interesting discussion about it, I would like to take this opportunity restart the dialogue.
I am very interested to hear from the community and hope we can continue.

If you have sent me a PM before, please do send one again as I have lost access to the other account.

THis post has been cleared with the site admin.

P.s. We are offering 'Evaluation Pricing' on our helmets for the remainder of October and November.

Members of Bikeforum.net can get the helmet at Dealer price ($90 each, no shipping to most places in Canada, US)
as long as I get some feedback about the product.

Same goes for replacement lenses - $15 each instead of regular $30.
just shoot me an email if interested:

m83, according to a web search, appears to be a music group. Apparently, the soundtrack in your product overview video is one of their songs*.

*Never heard of them before myself, so I couldn't even guess at which of their songs it is, or if it really is m83...

Oh, cool!
lol, i didn't even know...I did not pick the song, our video guys suggested it, we liked it, so it stayed

p.s.
here are the answers to your questions from the other thread:
I skipped to the end of this thread, so it might have been brought up before, but I have one question and two observations:

Q1- Is there enough clearance to wear Rx glasses underneath your product?
Yes, unless they are very square with corners sticking out.

O1- Wearing a helmet cover might interfere with the extending and retracting of the lens.
Cover would need to be augmented or special make. We are thinking of maybe a velcroed overlap or a flap

O2- Wearing a helmet light might interfere as well.
Helmet light should be OK, if it's mounted up center top.

Dux: Thanks for posting! I am excited about this product. I do have some questions:

1- When will you start taking pre orders?
2- When will the helmet be available? The website now says "check back next week". Sorta annoying.
3- The biggest concern I have is if I crash and have to replace the helmet. The helmet is somewhat expensive which is OK but causes an issue for replacement cost. Is the company doing anything to offer just the helmet or a break on cracked helmets?
4- How is the helmet with mounts for helmet lights and GoPros?
5- Can you explain more about the lenses? Seems like the company offers a lot of different types and I would like to understand what the function of each one is and how the differ from other ones that they sell.

Thank you.

I would love to be able to afford a these. If the yellow and amber lenses work like the yellow and amber paintball lenses I'm used to, they make everything "pop" and add contrast to things making it easier to see. The blue and red lenses also have similar affects. Do the lenses block out UV, and will polarized Oakley style lenses be offered?

For now These are UV blocking only.
If there is enough interest we will get into polarized, photochromic as well down the road.

One thing I was worried about was the apparent absence of mesh on the forward vents to keep bugs out. The Gran Fondo article mentions that there is a replacement pad included which has the mesh integrated, which is great news!

That article also mentions the possibility of a winter liner, which I also think would be very cool. Don't forget the ear coverings, guys!

In all, I think this helmet design offers a lot of potential upsides for someone like me, an eyeglass wearer too cheap to pop $500 on prescription sports shades that would be more of a problem to keep in good condition, and which knowing what happened to my first pair of 'script shades, would probably get lost.

I'm excited to get my hands on one and see if Dux helm delivers what i need!

Well, as I said that is something to do down the road.
If you are cheap, then you are in luck, You will see in my initial posting that until end of November I am selling these at 1/2 the retail price.
So the helmet with 1 lens(smoke) costs you $90+s/h.

All I ask is that you review it after you use it for a few weeks.

Just one small detail: rude or idiotic comments on. Fb do not qualify to win
Don't have to be full of praise or even positive, just have to be smart.

Someone mentioned that the lower edge of the lenses may be sharp and could cut the user in the event of a crash. May I suggest a rubber tube slit lengthwise and attached to the lower edge of the lens where it may contact the cheek. But after watching your video, I realised that the rubber tube may interfere with the lens fully retracting fully into the helmet.

Just a suggestion, I saw a website for another helmet brand, they have various models and when you click on the model, there is a big picture of that model and it rotates in 360 degree view. And if that model comes in 5 colors, click on the color that you like will put that helmet in that color. So comsumers can see all the available colors and make their choice.

Some good advices, thanks.

The lens..The lens is still a bit of work in progress. I am a little concerned about the lower edge, though I think our new mould will solve the issue.

Hi Martin,

I've placed my order and can't wait to try out the helmet! Quick question, I also ordered an additional lens and wanted to know if it comes with the lens cover I saw for the deluxe version?

Thanks

Hi Dan
Sorry for a late reply.
I haven't checked the forum as much as I should.

Congrats on your purchase, I hope the helmet serves you well.

I believe the single lens purchase does not come with a pouch, but I could be wrong.
I'll double check with the s/r dept tomorrow for you.

Cheers
Martin
