More to deal with,

WINDSOR (CP) - It's a new twist on "must see T-V."

A southwestern Ontario woman is in trouble for allegedly driving while watching television.

Officers in Windsor say they spotted a car last night with a T-V monitor in the middle of the dashboard.

Police stopped the vehicle and say they found the driver watching a music video on a portable DVD player.

A 21-year-old Leamington woman was fined 110 dollars after being charged with driving while watching TV.

A lot of luxury cars nowadays have a humongous LCD panel built right into the dash where the cd player used to be. Everyonce in a while I'll bike by someone at a light and see a porno or something playing.

I knew already that our drivers here were 'special'. Let's hope her insurance rates bump up and remind her for years to come what a damn fool she is.

Does it seem odd to anyone else that it is described both times as "driving while watching television", instead of the other way around? Makes it seem like the TV was the primary activity and the driving was the distraction. Very telling, I say...

Well this isn't a T.V. incident but the most distracting thing I ever saw a driver do was drive while eating corn on the cob. She was stearing with her elbows.

I saw a guy on the Freeway eating a bowl of cereal whilst driving. He even had a little stand for it to sit on, over his lap.

CHEERS.

I live in Windsor I must of missed the article in the paper but it comes as no suprise to me . Windsor has some of the worst drivers in the Province. On a bad day riding to work is like having a death wish. It's like they hate the idea that you are enjoying your commute and they are stuck in traffic going noware fast.

$110 dollars is all?

Methinks there's a fine that needs increasing.

That's a matter of state or local law. I think a lot of legislatures are jumping on the issue of late. Texas passed a law about back in 2003.

The best and highest use of a policeman's knightstick would be to the video screen. Give the driver the choice; a $500 fine and a tow to the impound yard + storage fees until the screen is removed, or two swacks with the stick. One to the screen, one to the knoggen.

I think they were concerned in Illinois about folks riding around with screens in the front seat, and also folks riding around watching porn. It was actually pretty funny hearing people talk about pervs in cars watching porn on the way to work.

I personally feel that any violation of the traffic laws should carry a fixed penalty expressed as a percentage of the yearly income+fortune.
Something like speeding excessively, say going 20 mph over the limit, could be 20%, for example.
Then it really hurts, no matter how rich you are.

I bet Bill Gates would quit driving entirely...
