I ride with a mirror mounted to my cycling glasses. Actually... I have three pairs of cycling glasses and all three each have a mirror mounted with shrink tape. I use the mirrors because (being old and a bit arthritic) I can't always glance behind me as I'd like to.

I have heard a cars tires pulling against the asphalt (swerving).... looked in my mirror and confirmed the erratic driving. Then found a place between parked cars to wait till the car passed. I have done this more than once.

In my case... the mirrors do work. Mirrors do provide me with the vision I've lost from my decreased head/neck mobility.

But if I regularly do my stretching exercises, and the weather is warm enough, I can get plenty enough movement to be able to glance behind me. And since I have no balance issues (another cause for mirror use).... I am good-to-go. But most of the time... I do benefit from having the mirror on my cycling glasses.

I never used a mirror as a young cyclists and I don't believe I needed one.
