I agree. I'm kind of disappointed with the level of what appears to be misogyny in the comments of "she totally overreacted." Nobody deserves to be treated that way. Yes, there may be some leeway as to whether it was actual sexual assault or not, but you have to admit there are a lot of pervs out there who would love to slap strange women on the ass if they could get away with it. Just ignoring it by saying there shouldn't be any problem is not going to solve the problem.

I just wonder how many male riders would feel the same way if another male rider (a stranger) slapped them on the ass?

Perhaps he also had difficulty in telling the difference between her being too slow and serving into his path.

Have you thought of taking up a career in writing fiction?

Oh, by the way, my wife was also assaulted in this fashion - you probably don't know her, but I look forward to your assessment of why she was mistaken. The fact that we live n the UK should be no bar to your ineffable insight into such things.
I think this woman has a more appropriate reaction to what you'd certainly refer to as criminal assault: ?She looked innocent?: Senior pulls out punches over hot pooch | CTV Vancouver News

What a strange response to this thread.

I know how I would react to it. In college, I had a guy who came up behind me walking and pinched my ass, I slapped his hand away and told him to never do it again. The next time he did it, as he pulled his hand away, I grabbed three of his fingers and bent them backwards to just short of breaking them. I told him, next time I would break them. Never had a problem from him again.

Oh- i have been slapped on the ass several times, both on the road and in the trees

Im a clydesedale and admittedly the booty is out there just ripe for a smackin'. --- but this is usually accompanied by a friendly -- "pick up the pace big daddy- you got this hill" or something similar

Its just an extension of high school and college locker room banter --- that said- i likely wouldnt do that to a woman unless i knew her and her temperament

It’s funny ... most guys I have ever met, if another man fondled them, would think it totally appropriate to beat up the guy ... if they were able.

Since women tend to be physically smaller and usually physically less aggressive, they generally have a lot less chance of success at settling the issue physically. (As I age and different parts of my body break down, I know how this feels ... if I started a fistfight with most nine-year-olds, I’d lose.)

So ... the lady reports the crime to the police. That is, in fact, what civilized people are supposed to do. She chased him down to get a picture to identify him ... also a smart move, to aid the police in apprehending him.

No (or very few of them) man on this site is going to answer honestly if asked “What would you do if some seven-foot-tall, 350-lb bodybuilder sexually assaulted you." Most will bluster about “I’d kick his a$$” and all that. But I’d bet in reality, if that gigantic bodybuilder touched them often enough, those guys would call the police. They’d want do call the cops the first time, but for most, male pride would prevent them.

When I was young and fit and somewhat more physically imposing, I too could afford to fantasize about “If anyone ever touched my wife that way I’d flock him up. He’d for sure never do that again.” Nowadays, I’d take a picture of the offender on my cell phone and call the cops. Much as I’d prefer still being able to at least fantasize about kicking the a$$ of anyone who would do that, I am a realist---those days are over.

So .... what should my wife do if I am not around? Take his picture, call the cops, have him arrested. Exactly that. She shouldn’t have to put up with that—no woman should. Right?

I mean, all the macho guys posting here ... if your wife or girlfriend or daughter got molested while you were there, you’d stand up, right? or would you call her a pu$$y and invite a bunch more men to grab he private parts?

This woman did exactly the right thing. And until this sort of behavior is recognized as unacceptable, I cannot even complain that he was labeled a sex offender. He isn’t really ... but we don’t yet have a category of “entitled, hypertestosteroned, selfish idiot neanderthals with the maturity of nine-year-olds” so ....

I had what I will call "a person of unknown gender" grab my rear really tightly from behind while walking down Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Of course, they grabbed my left cheek which is the norm.

If your paying attention, you'll notice that while grabbing your left cheek, they are checking your right rear pocket for a wallet. I didn't get mad or anything. I just turned around, smiled and said, "Didn't find what you were looking for?"

I got a real dirty look while I felt my right front pocket with my wallet in it.
