Truckers on bikes
This ought to tickle a few regulars. I guess this could be called an object lesson in empathy and I think it's a very good idea.
From the article:
Lorry drivers trained on bikes in bid to cut cycling deaths in London | London Evening Standard
Way back in the day I learned to drive a big rig just so I could figure out why the tomato truck drivers in the Sacramento Valley were such jerks, so I've been on the other side of this lesson. (I learned that they work 16-hour shifts with only every 8th day off, sometimes going 28-straight days without a break; that would make most of us jerks.)

A little empathy goes a long way.

Further supports my long-held position of the requirement for 8 hours or more of on-road in-traffic bike experience to earn a drivers license.

Now that they are doing it in London. They should be doing it elswhere. Not just Scotland n' Wales. Also, Ireland(both sides), Australia, New Zealand, and all of Europe, Asia, Africa, and the U.S.. Maybe that might be too much to ask for.

And in the US we'd have mandatory road tests every few years on top of written permit exams being a little more strict than they are now.

I spent most of my working life as an over the road driver.(Now retired) Much of that time, I was also an avid cyclist.
You would be surprised to know how many drivers carry bikes with them on the road. when I founded this facebook group, I had no idea it would take on a life of it's own.

This Bike was designed with an Aerodynamic Fairing, meant to mimic the Spoiler found on many eighteen-wheelers:

As completion of a drivers ed course resulted in significantly lower insurance costs, we took drivers ed at the nearby Catholic high school.
