I guess maybe I'm a little crazy in this regard, but I've gotten so used to high speed passes that it doesn't even bother me anymore. I have semis pass me at 60 MPH 2 feet away and I just keep on pedaling, not even really blinking. I have gotten very, very good at controlling my line despite a lot of wind buffeting. I realize that less skilled riders could EASILY get blown toward traffic or the ditch or just tipped right over, so it is something to be concerned about. I should probably be more concerned about it simply for the sake of general cyclist safety.

It takes a lot of time for some folks to become that used to certain traffic... and that "used to feeling" can go away quickly.

Sure, do it daily and what's a passing truck at 55MPH. Do it once a month, and OMG

It just takes getting hit by the side mirror just once to re-calibrate that "used to feeling" forever.

I won't say I'm "used to" close passes, I got slapped on the hip by a car mirror while unstrapping a load on a flatbed truck.
That was my reminder to never be complacent, but I'm not intimidated by being in close proximity to traffic.

One of Britain’s most prolific ultra-distance cyclists has died after being hit by a car while competing in a coast-to-coast race in Australia, days after complaining of vehicles passing too close to him.

Same here. I don't have semi's passing me that fast. Where you able to control line, I control the lane. Vehicles may speed by me in the opposing(2-lane) or passing(4-lane) lane. But as long as they do that, I am not phased by them passing fast. Except when they do it, when it is too dangerous to even pass another vehicle at the same speed, and location.

If cops in Ohio are like cops in California then don't expect many tickets to be issued.
