Did you just get triggered by some obscure National Geographic story from 30 years ago?

From the video: "Every day, drivers can sit for hours staring at brake lights."

While they're showing video of multiple lanes of bumper to bumper cars doing the stop and go... with nary a bike or a bike lane in sight to blame it on!

Yep. It's all cyclists fault!

Maybe if some more people rode bikes there wouldn't be such gridlock on those freeways.

Coffee guy sure had a long tie, but his vision is way too short. A better road environment for cyclists could bring a bunch more business.

This just about sums it up. Glad I don’t experience this living where we live. Not so sure Hawaii is paradise.

Not paradise; especially for conservatives; and the many liberals who are easily triggered by false ballistic missile attacks.

For those that bought houses before 1985 when the prices started going crazy high, it is a good place to retire.

If your a cyclist not afraid to take the lane, it is a very good place for cycling. Trade winds blow most of the motorist pollution away so we do not have to breath much of it even in heavy traffic. There is some good single track for mountain biking. Technical trails are more roots rather than head bashing rocks.

Other than some stupid bicycle license sweeps by cops on Oahu, the cops mostly leave cyclist alone.

Careful now, such talk can trigger exploding heads among those suffering from windshield entitlement complex.

They are just reporting the hate. I have no idea why anyone wants a car there anyway. It's an island! It's seriously a good candiate as a place to totally eliminate cars, there is just not much point to them in that environment.

I wasn't aware it was a politically partisan issue, given all of those duck and cover drills and shelters in the 50s

It's a BIG island, and even those stranded castaways had a car.

After the promo this morning, there were two dumb motorist moves caused by illegal and dangerous passing. 1st was a woman that tried to pass just before a curbed cut right turn guide. She ran out of room to pass, almost ran up the curb and into the traffic light but instead swerved right forcing me off the road.

The second was a guy crossing a double yellow to pass me on a downhill with oncoming traffic headed right at him. I was up to 30 mph when he passed and increasing speed. It would have been a head-on with the oncoming car had the oncoming car not swerved way right at the last second.

It has been a year since the last incident as bad as either of these. So is the timing just coincidence with the news story? Not likely, since similar stories have caused similar bad cycling weeks.

Honolulu is becoming a more bikeable city, but that comes at a c - Hawaii News Now - KGMB and KHNL

If the local news links the story video in the morning, I will link that as well.

As promised, link to video:

There are a couple of local hate mongers, John and Ken, aka Ren and Stimpy. They can be found at LAís KFI station spewing hatred and vitriol on all subjects, but especially cyclists. Idiots listening to these two hatred-mongering clowns have expressed some horrible opinions about cycling and cyclists.

184 spots gone - if there are >= 184 cyclists parked in the urban center at any given time, then it's a net gain.

Are the drivers, and business owners, on Oahu. Really that stuck up about on-street parking? I wonder what it is like on the other islands, that make up the State of Hawaii.
