oh OK, scratch that point then, but further West on Comm Ave, Brighton Ave & Route 20 SHOULD have a left bike lane! :-) cuz sharing a lane with a bus is a disaster. they are in & out & never pull up to a curb & their signalling stinks. they seem to be quite careless about their driving as-if they were indemnified from fault. it's been a few years since I rode this particular stretch & it looks like they have some new "sharrows" & maybe a new sign about "changing lanes"? see here

and what is going on here in Allston? looks like something new forcing bikes & buses into the same narrow corridor? see the bus ahead stopped in the bike lane? what happens when the bike catches up? I'll tell you, the bike will pass, then the bus will pass the bike, then the bike will pass the bus & they keep leap froggin, it's nutz. just give the bikes their own safe lane on the left side

Ha! Streetview went through during the bridge replacement?
That “lane” was there for two weeks during construction.

Besides streetview, I rode through too, and I shared the road with Peter Pan. I did not die.

And so are the "sharrows on steroids" - no green. But otherwise would love to see these spread. One note - Boston Drivers wait until the last seconds to change lanes, even on a quiet sunny Sunday morning:

Heading back to the BU bridge to leave Boston, again lots of help:

And finally, about to head in to Cambridge on a lonely bridge:

I have six bikes so I don't HAVE to ride a bus.

I just don't see how you can hope to make it work. Putting cycle lanes on roads.

Ours are on the pavements. It works a treat.

I did not check an option in the poll. It would depend on more than the info at hand. I would have to bike it a couple of times to give an intelligent answer. The odds of a city bus catching up to me in The Grid is zero. How goofy is it to get past a bus in MY way would be the issue.

1. ...which is hard to do if you blast through every red light without slowing down like you do all the time and people have to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting you because you want to prove the superiority of your heavy touring bike compared to road bikes.

2. ...which is also hard to do if you blast through every red light without slowing down like you do all the time and pedestrian have to duck out of the way at the crosswalk because , once again, you want to prove the superiority of your heavy touring bike compared to road bikes
Let's face it: your videos have absolutely nothing to do with safety and advocacy and everything to do with speed and time savings... at the expense of safety and advocacy.

It is pretty rare when another road user has to adjust their speed or direction to compensate for my actions. If I can't get across "clean" then I just stop.

The safety I gain is: A. I spend less total time exposed out there, and, more importantly: B. I spend no time lingering around intersections which is where most of the danger resides.

If done properly I also get to bike in the traffic gaps created by traffic signals. The fewer auto interactions per trip, the safer I am. Good luck arguing this.

Although I do stop and wait at each and every red light intersection, I do think that I'm exposed if a car is directed my way when involved in an accident.

The only auto accidents I have ever been involved in were rear-end collisions while I was dead stopped at red lights. 2 drunks, 1 wet brakes. Had I been on a bike I would have been badly injured every time. Since the advent of the smart phone I see minor rear-end collisions all the time between cars and trucks. The kind that would just bend a rear bike wheel and knock me down. Since motorists can not be trusted to control their vehicles properly I take it upon myself to NOT BE THERE when they screw up. Pretty simple philosophy really.
