San Francisco Bicycle coalition

Just a question. Does anyone have an opinion about the SFBC? They don't respond to email or phone messages. They are an advocacy group, right? Their pet project at the moment seems to be bike lanes. Considering the execrable condition of the road way within these lanes and the fact that a large majority of drivers double park in them (Including the SFPD!), I question their safety. Moreover, I don't think they have done enough to educate MUNI drivers as to the rules of the road. Many appear to purposefully intimidate bicyclists whenever the opportunity presents itself. Any opinions about this organization?

I've not dealt with them, since I ride in the South Bay.

If you move down here, the SVBC is pretty good.

Remember, these are just people, and most are doing this in their spare time without compensation. Are you a paying member of the coalition?

I was considering it but their seeming indifference to my inquiries may discourage this.

Give them a chance, go for a small membership donation, then when they bug you to renew, cancel if they have not been responsive.

There is also the East Bay Bike Coalition, the Marin Bike Coalition, etc.
