With regards to flat tire repair.
Buy QUALITY tire levers not cheap department store ones that may snap or bend to uselessness when you try to pry off a tire.
If you go with the CO2 cartridge type inflator make sure your cartridges and head match - ie, thread to thread NOT threaded head and smooth neck cartridge.
Check tire pressures before riding and once a week or so check all fastenings to be sure none are vibrating loose.
