Nailed it. Except roads are actually Plan C for him, behind sidewalks.

If results from the people that actually took the time to click one of the options gives you satisfaction, I suggest you evaluate what brings you joy and raise the bar. But don't reach too far, beating people by waiting at the bottom of the hill that don't know they are racing you may be more success than you can handle.

I'm not sure anyone here would encourage OP to wear a helmet. Conversely, Darwin seems to be looking out for the kid.

He was closer to doing something more useful than you in the scenario you described in your original post because he was definitely in the right.

...post # 53 begs to be rolled into the endlessly entertaining A+S helment thread. But I see the OP has already reinvigorated the whole "helmet yes or no" debate. This will certainly be a huge benefit to posterity. I already learned there that helmets "are cost-effective for the elderly since they are more susceptible to TBI." Which I never knew before. I stupidly assumed it was because old people fall more. Now I discover that it's because the young have harder heads.
And people say that nobody ever learns anything in the A+S forum.

Didn't read your long winded rant against me but I'm sure it wasn't anything about advocating safety for cyclists...

You just got mad at a made up story (that you made up) about a kid telling you to be safer. I actually tried to explain this thread to someone and they couldn't understand it and they have been in enough stupid arguments. "Wait people were agreeing with him and he attacked them?"
You are just too much.

Which one of us started this thread with a story of how you scolded a group of cyclists?
TBH, I care so little about other people's helmet wearing habits that I've had conversations lasting several miles with people I've met on the road, and 5 minutes later, I wouldn't have been able to remember whether they were wearing a helmet. It's just not something I am paying attention to.

How many of you people in this cantankerous little clique have EVER executed a "perfect" ride? By perfect ride I mean: never got angry, no close calls at all, did not butt heads with cars, did not scare any pedestrians.
I just finished a 2 hour "perfect" ride. I probably accomplish it 2 out of 3 rides. It's very difficult to achieve.

As for rides, it’s not difficult at all to avoid those issues if you ride like vehicle, and stay off the sidewalk.

I rode 176 miles this weekend. I had a random passenger roll down his window and swear at me, but I did nothing to provoke that. Otherwise, by your definition, perfect. You know nothing about how we ride.
BTW, I'd be pretty embarrassed by your record. 1 out of 3 2 hour rides resulting in some kind of incident riding where you do is pretty lousy.

I wear one. It holds my mirror and shades my eyes. Not sure how "safe" it is. But as a registered Libertarian, I don't care how ppl exercise their freedoms so long as it only potentially harms themselves.
The most frightening thing is I agree with livedarklions on something. Likely won't sleep tonight.

Hey, genius. If I ride 176 miles in 2 days, I go through urban and rural areas. About 30 miles of that was in the Boston suburbs, but I did about 125 highway miles, a bit of path riding, paved and unpaved, and passed through several cities and towns of various sizes. Want to compare that to your 2 hours of path and sidewalk riding?

I live in a city where until very recently ZERO people wore helmets with the exception of full kit roadies. It's getting a little more popular with all the helmet choices these days and the age groups wearing them grew up in the "missing kids pictures on milk carton" days that their parents helicoptered over their every move for safety.
I wear one. It holds my mirror and shades my eyes. Not sure how "safe" it is. But as a registered Libertarian, I don't care how ppl exercise their freedoms so long as it only potentially harms themselves.

I almost posted a comment about how funny it is that OP thinks you and I are in the same "clique." He really does bring a certain degree of unity.

The irony here is the OP is upset about folks calling him out over a helmet, but feels perfectly fine calling out riders over his pet peeve. Makes me wonder if his head is screwed on straight.

It's always "no harm, no foul" for me. I never ask people to live as I would, though I should admit, I don't wear a helmet either.

Define rural. 55 mph 4 lane roads between and through cities? Lots of exits, intersections, traffic. Taking a proper left-hand turn on that requires more skill than you have. I encountered plenty of cars and trucks, and guess what, no problems.
So, your msth sucks because a fair amount of those highway miles were , in fact, urban. But I am pretty sure the other 29% alone was more riding than you've done in a month, so what's your damn point? I know more about road cycling than you ever will, enough to know you're a loud mouthed ignoramus.
I
