Biking and Walking is better than being in LOVE!!!!

https://www.insidehook.com/article/h...-mental-health

If you don't want to hit the link the gist of the article is that establishing foot/walking/biking friendly zones in urban areas, by closing sections (blocks, etc.) off to autos and trucks leads to a physical and emotional lifestyle change that resembles being IN LOVE! Ya can't beat that!

rumrunn6 10-13-23 11:52 AM

um, well, that's a stretch

Iride01 10-13-23 11:58 AM

Love and sex aren't the same. So continuing with the idea and in good and typical BF fashion one might also ask... is cycling better than sex? Or just a substitute for the times we can't have the other?

work4bike 10-13-23 12:16 PM

I don't really understand love...so, I can go with cycling is better than being "in love"...whatever that is. Now sex....Is this a family forum:eek:

Well, you have to have a partner for love.

What’s love got to do with it?

So ... not only is the thread title clickbaity and misleading, the post also belongs in LCF, not A&S. 15 Yard penalty. Resume play.

I suspect that the author of the piece has never experienced real, true, love. Nothing..... not cycling, walking, running, earning millions of dollars, or anything else, will ever equal it.

Aww ... a BF romantic ... did you say 'millions of dollars'? I'm there ...

Economists in Switzerland (those romantics!) telling you something is as good as falling in love is advice worth … ignoring.

That's not what it states; it actually says:
ARUP cited a study conducted by economists at the University of Zurich, which found, “A person with a one-hour commute to work has to earn 40% more money to be as satisfied as someone who walks. At the same time, shifting from a long commute to a short walk would make a single person as happy as if he or she had found a new love.”

If you can't discern the difference between those statements, I would encourage you to consider the differences between "resemble" and "as happy as if." Those are two different things.

Cycling vs. Sex
Are we talking sprints, or grand tours here?

RB1-luvr 10-18-23 12:33 PM

Sex while cycling. Now we're talking.

rumrunn6 10-19-23 07:55 AM

fwiw - when I was going through some life drama, personal & professional, my bike was always there for me

Korina 10-19-23 07:02 PM

Interesting that the OP says "love" and you guys immediately translate it to "sex".
@Leisesturm, the OP was probably thinking of the Advocacy part of the forum name. Not a lot of advocacy goes on in here, but it happens now and then.

love to bike....bike to love
