at the same time, it's all healthy conversation about an issue that NEEDS to be talked about. i just want everyone to walk away knowing that there is NO WAY to point blame in this situation. sarah's deadl- everyone at my work is CRUSHED, and sarah's parents have to bury their daughter.... something i don't wish on anyone.
but at the same time? i can't comprehend how the driver of the truck must feel.
let this -and all the others- make us safer on our bikes and in our cars.

For now it appears that the one with the most metal feels they own everything and can do anything. And unfortunately they most often win.
[N.B. Notwithstanding that the previous poster is probably right on regarding possible errors by cyclists.]

In this case, I am sure the delivery truck driver wasn't trying to be the alpha vehicle when it hit the bicylist.
When it comes to bicycle accidents, size doesn't really matter. Even a collission with two bicyclists is tragic.
More bicycles on the road just means more accidents are going to happen. That is all there is to it. No driver wants to hit a bicyclist and no bicyclist wants to get hit. Unfortunately, accidents happen and when you increase the number of cyclists, you are going to see more accidents. Very sad indeed.
