Gilbert Police Dept. Rocks, at least this time.

Was commuting yesterday and passed through an intersection where they had an officer directing traffic, Officer motions me through but mouths "Get on the sidewalk" to me. Well, cruising along at 28 mph on the sidewalk didn't seem very logical to me and extremely un VC dont ya know. Anyway, I emailed Gilbert police and told them about it and what I thought he had mouthed at me and they wrote me back the same day saying the "Officer" I mentioned was a contracted employee and they had contacted his company and that he would be educated. Anyway, for all the times we dog on police on this board it was really cool to see a positve experience and have a police Dept that is supportive of VC. Guess I will have to keep commuting across their town. (not that I have a choice in the matter mind you)

Nice response.

I have on a few occasions ridden thru a police controled intersection (all times in Chandler) and was in the center of right most thru lane and was waved thru and not ignored.

By the way I'd think that riding a bent on the sidewalk would be even more annoying that a diamond as you can't hop uneven sections, bumps, curbs, etc.

I just have images of walking on a sidewalk and seeing that chainring on the front zooming at me like a big deranged buzz saw battering ram at 28 mph. Hey maybe there is a halloween costume here, I could cut an old chainring in half and put it on my back so it would look like it was stuck in me. Although the chainring is actually a littler lower than that on my recumbent, but that sort of halloween costume would probably be inappropriate I think.

This reminds me of my coffee convsersastion this AM. Friend (who doesn't bike) was offered a kid trailer. I am looking for a utility one, but said I could proably use it. This lead to idea of putting a doll on top of the groceries which may give drivers more caution, which lead to idea of putting it on a string with a spring loaded trigger to release the doll if a driver comes to close, which lead to body parts put in spokes and fake blood, etc. All in the halloween sprit of course. I said that would probably get ya pulled over due to someone complaining. Then my 4WD buddy told me some of his friends actualy have dolls wired to the grills of their trucks without problem. Yikes.

Leave part of the old boom sticking out the front.
