"COPS" episode - car vs cyclist

Did anyone catch this tonight?

We're following a traffic stop when we hear SCREEEEEECH! BAM! and see a cyclist and his bike flying through the air. They really didn't say how badly he was hurt.

My heart stopped - after being hit myself, it really hit home. I was thinking - "that was me".

Hopefully someone will put it on youtube or someplace. I just happened to record it on DVD, but unable to transfer it to the PC.

My interest in anything that happens on television is very low, but since I understand this show to be very popular, I'd be interested in hearing more about what happened and how it is portrayed.

I taped COPS, and just finished watching it. I feel queezy after seeing that now. That bike really went flying, OUCH! Hard to tell exactly what happened, since the camera was on the guy in handcuffs at first, but the woman driving probebly shouldnt of been going 45mph around a stopped police car, and a cyclist. Hope the poor guy was ok!

Why not? DVD to PC is about as easy as it gets. Go grab DVD2AVI. Free software.

And what ... use clip leads to connect to the line input of my sound card?

Some of us are still in the last century when it comes to computers.

I can make a copy and mail it if there is a volunteer to convert to AVI or MPEG.

I think the only details relevant to this forum are what the show said about the bike "accident". It sounds like it was only incidental to the main action. Did they even appear to take notice? Did the show follow up on it at all?

Well, if someone will volunteer to make a clip available .... (I'll make a copy of mine and forward it to anyone who can post it on the web someplace).

The officer involved was really caught off guard. He had _just_ stopped a camaro with two occupants, the driver without a license, and was clearing them out of the car. Just as he sat the driver on the curb and was about to clear the passenger from the car, we hear the SCREEEECHING of the accident no more than 20 feet away. It happened right next to them, and ~just~ off camera. The camera then swings over and we see the bike 10 feet in the air, the cyclist's left shoe 20 feet in the air, and the cyclist himself just comming off the windshield and getting shuttled onto the road.

The cop kept one eye on the original offenders and then tried to deal with the bike accident by calling for medical support, blocking the road, and checking the rider who was moving an arm but not much else. He got hit HARD.

It all happened very quickly ... and it was ugly.

I'm glad they showed it ... when you come upon a police car with flashing lights ... SLOW DOWN !

Perhaps there's some discussion elsewhere on the web about it.
