Two
FOR EACH BIKE-CAR CRASH YOU HAVE BEEN IN, please copy/paste/fillout the following section:
------------ PER CRASH SURVEY --------------
Please describe the crash in detail, and include any other pertinent information:
1) Northbound on Flatbush Avenue near 7th Avenue in rightmost lane. Southbound motorist attempts left turn, cutting me off. Braked hard, turned left sharply, collided while our trajectories were nearly parallel. Spent a few rewarding minutes yelling at him & beating the side & hood of his car with bicycle. Adreneline subsided, felt vaguely ashamed as motorist drove away with look of shock and horror. Realigned bars and proceeded with rest of commute.
2) Northbound in leftmost lane on Lafayette street, just south of intersection where BL begins, in center lane position, motorist in slightly ahead of me (my front wheel was about where his rear bumper was) in center lane pulls half into left lane, flings open door as if pursued by bees. I steered left and braked, clipped his window frame with my right shoulder. Motorist's motives remain a mystery, as my enraged and repeated inquiries regarding his parentage, his family's traditions regarding maternal mating habits and his and his female companion's personal and aesthetic characteristics were met first by silence and then by apologies. Homeless man entered argument, in my support. Knowing little else would be accomplished, I proceeded northwards, leaving my advocate to continue the argument on my behalf.

I have never been in a bike-car crash either as the cyclist or the motorist. I've been in the bike lane, on the shoulder, in the right-most portion of the road, otherwise adequately destination-positioned, or on the bike path each time (as the cyclist of course).
Make sure you include my statistic in your "study".

I wasnt going to particepate in this survey because I have never personaly had a bike vs car crash.
But after reading the severity level 10, I got to wondering if maybe I had been killed in a bike car crash and just didnt realise it.
Is there some way I can check on this and find out?

Do you ever have the haunting feeling that you've died and gone to hell?
I would recommend that anyone with ongoing issues from a crash not post anything about it on an open forum.

Only 1 car bike crash.
Got into a verbal argument with an idiot in a car who was 2 feet from my rear wheel, laying on the horn for about half a block, even though there were two lanes to his left he could have used to get around me and it was a sunday morning with very little traffic.
As he passed me on the right, he tried to squeeze me into a van that had gotten in the lane to my left. I kicked his car, he slammed on the brakes, got in back of me. At this point I knew he was gong to run me down, so I accelerated as hard as I could and went left as fast as I could. I almost got away, but he hit me just as I made it to the left most lane of three lanes. Hospital, stitches.
Cops wouldn't charge him, state attorney said it was my fault for provoking him.

Description: I was riding home late at night on a Friday. I got to the far left like I had done everyother night to make a left hand turn to go to my apt. I totally didn't think that anyone would be drinking(I'm assuming the driver was drunk since he tried to stop, but kept going after the collision). Driver attempted to stop, I heard my wheel crunch, and then woke up on the side of the road. A girl(my age) stopped to see what happend, she was more hysterical than me. She asked if I was ok, I asked her if I was dreaming, then I asked if she hit me. I looked at my feet, wiggled them, said I was ok and stood up. Called my mom, had the girl call the police, then called my roomates. Police came, did a report, said the driver left 100ft skid marks(I probably left 20 ft ) which meant he was probably going 60mph(it's a highway so I'm not surprised). Roomates took me to the hospital, x-rays etc, nothing permanent, just road rash etc. Rear wheel was totaled, and rear triangle was bent enough that it was not repairable.

19. Traffic conditions at the time on cyclist's street, same direction (none, light, heavy): none
20. Police involved? Fault determined/assigned? Damages paid? police involved, motorist never found, homeowners gave me some money, health insurance covered most of the hospital bills

Are you interested in near misses, or only actual collisions? In the past 4 years that I've commuted regularly (plus around campus during college 20 years ago, and off and on before and after that), I've had one near miss and no actual collisions. I can tell you about the near miss if you'd like.

My bike was run over by a luggage car at the airport but I wasn't on it. Luggage car took sharp right turn followed by a sharp left turn. The bike slid off the middle trailer of 5 and was then run over by the last trailer. All while I watched in horror from the Gate. Damage = total.

I have no plans.
How it may be used mostly depends on what gets submitted.
