I visited Amsterdam last year and it was amazing. I was utterly amazed at the layout of the city for bicycles. I did almost get hit by bicycles a few times though, not being used to their bike lane set up. Great pics, makes me want to go back soon.

I don't have pictures but Minneapolis has some nice fairly new two way bike lanes running along the Light Rail corridors. Hopefully some one from there can post a pic or two. If it wasn't for the fact that the average temperature for January is 3 I would consider moving there:p

I was there for 10 days and don't recall seeing a single bike helmet. Not even in the stores.

I think they might be electric or something.

Portland's circulating a draft RFP for someone to install, maintain and manage a fleet of this type of rental bike.

Wow that is a great web site! Here's a choice quote:

Streets Are People Places

The first step in winning back our communities is realizing that cars should not rule the roads.

By Fred Kent

I have a favorite saying about transportation: "If you plan cities for cars and traffic, you get cars and traffic. If you plan for people and places, you get people and places."
Thanks for pointing me to that. I'm going to share that with my bicycle advocacy group.

It IS a great website, isn't it? and some really great ideas. and a plethora of bike and pedestrian facilities that work and are used daily. re-making spaces for people, not automobiles.
