CONROE — A bicyclist was killed when a vehicle driven by an 82-year-old woman left the roadway and struck him head-on, authorities said.

The accident occurred about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of FM 3083.

Brad Jennings, 41, was riding in the westbound lane shoulder when a 1991 Ford Explorer crossed from the eastbound lane to the westbound shoulder, striking him, said Conroe police Sgt. Mike Tindall.

Jennings, of Conroe, was taken to Conroe Regional Medical Center, where he died shortly after arrival, Tindall said.

Authorities said they do not know why the driver, Fern Crawford, of Conroe, left the road. The accident is still under investigation.

So far, no charges have been filed against Crawford but the case will go to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office for review, authorities said.
