The Planters Peanut Commercial
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NVbFoj3aTQ
Have you seen this commercial? It's really insulting. I'm really offended that Planters thinks cyclists are so stupid that's we'd run into the back of taxis. You'd think a bike rider would be the perfect healthy mate for a girl but they seem to be indicating that the only way you can get the girl is to ride on a bus, she's not paying attention to anyone on a bike. And why was the rider not centered in his lane? http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ward/Biker.jpg Maybe the message is that we're just suppose to sit around rubbing peanuts on ourselves instead of exercising. Stupid, stupid, I was going to the store this afternoon for some snacks but I'll be buying Hostess cupcakes instead of peanuts. |
You're joking right?
-D |
Seriously, not offensive. The only way I'd be offended is if I, um, looked like the girl.

It's simply a Hollywood cliche that bikes riding into parked cars and doors is funny. If you see a bicycle in a movie, TV show, or commercial, there are excellent odds that the rider is about to fall off in a hilarious way. Other's pain is funny. There are billions of these stupid slapstick cliches that aren't about bicycles. They're funny though. :)

Yep, people finding slapstick and the prat fall funny made "The Three Stooges", et. al., classics. These things out date the bicycle by a very long time.
|
So dobber, your upset you did not get the girl!
Maybe set your sights a little lower. |
She was kind of hot. :roflmao:

Hey dobber, maybe you should find out if the Unibrow Girl has a sister doing commercials as the Mustache Girl?
|
That was hilarious. I laughed out loud. that chick looks a little like Frida Kahlo.
|
It stereotypes nothing, just like the guy walking through the glass window/door, they're just trying to show their peanuts make men go wild/are very distracting especially when rubbed on a woman.
|
This commercial does'nt bother me either, it poked fun a men in general. The woman in the commercial loosely reminds me of one of my dates in my bachelor years, she must have run out peanuts the day we broke up. ;)
|
Hey! I was drinking coffee when I watched that video and read the responses. Whose going to clean up this mess on my screen?

I'm confused if it is insulting. I mean, is the problem the woman or man who could forsee such events and do nothing about it, or maybe the cart owner should have kept better control of his animal or had proper maintenance on his equipment? Shouldn't a cyclist be able to negotiate random apples in the street? Does this cyclist need proper training? Can a single apple cause such destruction? My God, the woman wasn't wearing a helmet (she must have been one of those, "Spring airheads...Helmets cramp her style!), but seemed to be none the worse for wear anyhow - I'm confused! How could she have survived without a helmet? And why should it be that the bar keep is not considered a better catch than the more conventional beauty? After all, she has the beer. I think the government of Isreal has the more effective ad. They clearly demonstrate that a single rock on the street can be more destructive than all the risks facing the children of it's state http://pasimlev.mot.gov.il/NR/rdonly...0/0/helmet.mpg |
