Could the reporter be an aggrieved ex-pupil?

Bicyclist Clipped by Truck

Aug 7, 2008

For Bainbridge High School Principal Tommie Howell, riding a bicycle on East River Road proved to be a dangerous way to exercise.

About 6 pm Wednesday afternoon, Tommie Howell was pedalling north on the edge of East River Road. The driver of a pickup, also heading north, was distracted for a moment. He looked up to see the bicycle at the edge of his truck.

The pickup's mirror clipped Mr Howell's bike and sent him tumbling. EMS transported him to the hospital to be checked for what was reported to be minor injuries.

Don't run red lights, wear a helmet, use hand signals, get some cycle lights(front and rear) and, FFS, don't run red lights!

I don't see the bias there. I'd like to know how in the heck the reporter knew what the trucker was thinking (cite, people), but I'm not seeing the bias there.

That's just how small town news is written.

Seriously, if I visit my parents at their home, it ends up in the social pages.

I either misread it or they've made a change as I seem to remember the original story saying something along the lines of "Tommie Howell should think twice about cycling on the roads." as the final sentence.

Anyway, it's not there now so the thread seems a little pointless.
