Hint: It's the title of the blog the link redirects you to.

Massachusetts just made dooring a bicyclist illegal last year. Apparently, it didn't used to be specified as illegal by state law.

I know, and I did click on the link before I posted. It doesn't make the thread title any less tasteless.

Sad to know that all these accidents could have been avoided if the cyclists only road further left.

Rather have angry motorists drive by me than swerve into traffic.

So it is not the door that kills. It is the traffic nearby that catches the dooring victim.

I ride mostly in the suburbs, where dooring is not a threat.

and there it is ladies and gents: only six posts before someone on a&s blames the cyclist for getting killed by the driver.

Stop being absurd frymaster. His post only notes how cyclist can and should protect themselves by staying out of the door zone.

it is senseless to pretend we don't have to defend ourselves. Regardless of whether you have the ROW, and are "following all the rules" you can still be badly injured by someone else. Ever heard of defensive driving? same applies for bikes.

I ride VC because it's safer, and I stay out of door zones. You can't expect everybody to boycott bike lanes, though. Just sayin'.
