Kristin Armstrong on Boise Bike Safety

2008 Olympic time trial gold medalist is a Boise resident and bike commuter. Here's the local newspaper's interview with her in the 6/16/09 edition. She and her husband (also an accomplished cyclist) talk mostly about how riders and drivers can co-exist safely.

Wasn't Lance Armstrong once married to a Kristen? But I'm guessing this is a different one. Talk about Coincidence.

I don't understand your reaction. Her advice makes sense to me.

Her advise is good common sense as is the website it references.

https://yieldtolife.org looks to be a good media campaign to educate drivers and cyclist.

The OP is refering to the comments left by the readers, not the article itself.

I was referring to comments left by readers - not anything said by Kristin Armstrong. She and her husband are great ambassadors for cycling and fitness... Some readers of the Idaho Statesman are merely ambassadors for increased funding of remedial education.

My advice is that people not read the comments on newspaper websites.

While there are professional trolls out there who like to play around on the newspaper sites, I agree that when you have as many comment responses as that article, you can get a pretty good pulse of where the general public is at on the topic.

I wouldn't assume that online comments are representative of the general public. There are certainly people who feel that way. But those who post comments (both the detectors and those who attempt to counter the detractors) are self-selecting. I believe the vast majority of the population isn't particularly pro or con and isn't going to post.

You are probably right that the vast majority of the population is somewhat neutral... however, one should none the less be aware that there are some real adverse characters out there, and indeed not everyone chooses to post.
