Accord and Tacks... Jupiter Island, Florida. Latest in ongoing battle.

Ongoing battle :
https://www.palmbeachpost.com/localne...rules0912.html

Results of the war:
https://www.palmbeachpost.com/localne...ocol_0911.html

I attended the first of these meetings two years ago after the bike pages were filled
with "Jupiter to ban bicycles" stuff. Ready to yell and rep in a manner that would
make DonQ proud, I slinked out with my banana and revolution between my legs
after an hour of tales/videos etc of cyclists urinating on front yards, clogging
the roads and flipping people off and defying Cops orders to pull over.

The last time I drove on the Island, a rider cursed at me at the "Y" (locals will know)
cuz he had to unclip at HIS stop sign.

I cant see this situation getting any better, only digressing if thats possible.

The new rules sound OK, as long as they enforce the very same rules for motorist. No more than 5 motorist in a row and must always give 25 feet separation.

But think of how much fun it would be to suggest that at one of their meetings, reminding them "Same rules, same rights".

Actually, the Chief of Police came up to me to goof on
a Vermont Cycling T-shirt I had on and spent about 15
minutes listening to my drivel and commenting most
pleasantly . He was one of the most level-headed and
decent people Ive met while here.
I think he would be totally receptive to any input
that would result in fairness for all.

Lots of ex-NYC down there...on both sides. Sad to see things get so squared-off.
