At least if you'd yelled something like "I know where you stay beeyotch, better watch your back" even while you were pedaling away.

May have put a thought in their minds about not repeating the same mischief .

Now other cyclist will likely be their targets due to your inaction.
Reading comprehension: You're doing it wrong.

A monk was walking down a road minding his own business. A group of young men approached him, taunted him verbally, then knocked him to the ground. A man who observed this act ran over and helped the monk to his feet, dusted him off and looked him over for injury. The rescuer verbalized his disgust with the act he just observed and offered to catch the men and bear witness to the law on the monk's behalf. The monk kindly thanked the man for his service but told him "Don't worry about it...that's THEIR problem, not mine".

So if you are not a Buddhist, you have certainly come upon some good wisdom on your own. Good on ya!
That was excellent! Thanks!

I think the OP is a wise person. As time goes on, I have realized that becoming angry is making the situation about the aggressor, and fails to influence them anyway. If I reacted angrily, I typically would feel bad for a week if not longer. Now I realize my reaction is all that I can control, and I feel better if I don't escalate and try to get revenge. OTOH, I probably would call them in to the cops just on the off hand chance that they start throwing other things when they run out of eggs.

It depends on the reaction. Knowing that some Seattle bikers chase down offending drivers and beat the heck out of their cars --then take off at the light --- seems to be a good deterrant. [not advocating ...I've overhead drivers discussing]
