NPR talked with (my former State Representatives) Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood about Bikes in the new transportation policy.

I understand, as LaHood does, that there are people who will never accept a bicycle as a viable part of their lives. Some can't, others just won't. I'm OK with that. What DOES bother me is the lack of tolerance on their part for MY choice!
To the citizen:
You want to drive a car? Drive, then. I don't want to. But that doesn't make you better than me, so share the f'n road. Your timetable isn't more important than my life.
To the OT:
I'm all for a national bike trail system; the Adventure Cycling Association is on the job with the US National Bike Routes system, but that involves almost all roads. A spiderweb of MUPs, or bike-only trails, would be something to behold!
For the haters and nay-sayers there, I can only point north, to Le Route Vert.
