Yellow-card them!

This card was designed by Peter Miller as an alternative to the kicking-of-doors and yelling-and-screaming that usually goes on when someone in a car recklessly endangers the life of a cyclist because they were talking on their phone, putting on lipstick, passing another car in the bike lane, etc etc etc. It's a more subtle statement, but I think more effective. Peter has provided a PDF of the card to allow others to print it out on a magnet of their choice and distribute them as needed.

Print it on one of these before you toss it at a car.

PS, it weighs about 4 pounds.

Do you really think that it would do any good?

If you have time to throw it onto the car, are/were you really in any danger?

Too civilized; I know, we should 'take the high road'... but barbarians don't respond well to reason.

I'd prefer something like a 'spare' handlebar, with ONE grip, say, like a steel flat bar from a BBS bike.... makes a good club.

Ohh -- thanks, I dozed off, was dreaming...........

Yellow card is a nice idea. Not enough time to effectively implement it.

I would never be able to get this thing on cars that harass me. Even if I had it in my hand ready to toss...

He probably has urban traffic in mind. Cars moving at about 20mph.

Ranting and raving is just so much more satisfying.

That'll make a lasting impression. Not much else will.

Revenge is living well. In our case, revenge is getting to and from work and not getting stuck in rush hour traffic.

I agree, violent obscene gestures, swearing, screaming, threats and accusations have it's place in this sport.
Although, I would like to see the expression on a BMW driver's face when that magnet hit his hood!

Probably something similar to the expression if one was to hock a huge loogie onto their hood. The best parts about the loogie is that it's free and doesn't make you liable for damage to the beemer.

Obligatory beemer joke:

Q: What's the difference between a beemer and a porcupine?

A: A porcupine's prix are on the outside.

Like that one, Crit!

This is the time of year (for me at least) for the really 'productive' loogies; I keep some congestion almost constantly, from October to April, no matter what I do. They seem to fly further, too....

I've often thought, also, how good it would be to have a 'special paintball' -- one that unfurls a little tag, about the size of the paper in a fortune cookie, that sticks to the glass and reds, in bold letters, "STUPID!" I'd figure out a way to 'stealth'-mount the works into my h-bar, so I could shoot to the left....

Interesting idea. I'd make it shorter, and somewhat less goody two-shoes sounding. Doesn't need to be super confrontational, but a little more firm than the syrupy stuff. Maybe something like "Please just remember next time that it could be your dad, mom, son, or daughter on that bike next time". IIRC, that similar radio campaign we had here for awhile seemed to actually resonate with people a little more. At least the people I talked to seemed to "get it" a little more when thinking about it that way. Less focused on the blame and the incident and gets people thinking about the consequences more. Won't work for everyone, but hey, stranger things have happened...

I like the idea though.

(Also, I imagined it better used at red lights or after a car parks than anything else)

Too preachy.
