Riders with cellphones and no helmet

Anyone else find this picture aggravating to cyclists everywhere?

No.

It looks like he did the right thing- he got a phone call, was parked on the side of the road with his helmet off, one foot on the ground, not moving and talking.

Most cyclists would be ignorant enough to NOT stop and try to ride while talking on their cell phone. I've seen it. I even almost got into a crash with another cyclist because they wouldn't get off the phone.

I'm actually thinking that he's setting an example for all the stupid cyclists out there who won't be responsible enough to pull over to the side of the road and talk if they have to take a phone call.

Well, if he wore his helmet he would get helmet hair! Besides if he crashed he would really want to protect that side of his handlebars. As far as the cellphone he must have got it from wonder woman's jet (insvisible?). I think he is just adjusting his glasses.

That's ok. But seriously, he is doing everything right. He is not riding, he's pulled over to the side, he's taken off his helmet... he's the poster boy of what cyclists should be doing if they insist on using their helmets. Unfortunately, a lot of folks insist on continuing the ride, despite all the dangers that are amplified from riding while talking.

I have no wish to be a pedant and I may be mistaken but it looks to me like he has both feet clipped in there.

I see 2 feet on pedals too.

Still doesn't really irritate me - it's his life, not mine.

I also see both of his feet clipped on the pedals, he is effectively riding and he is just answering a phone call from his campaign adviser Joe Lockhart, traveling in the one of the following official black SUVs, asking him to put his helmet on before someone get him on camera and make him lose a significant number of votes among the safety conscious cycling community

Not exactly, Koffee. He's not parked off to the side of the road with one foot on the ground.

Notice the lack of motion blur though. Yep, that's right, track stand baby!

no the pic does not piss me off. he obviously has a friggin helmet as it's on the handlebars and there are plenty of pics with him wearing a helmet while riding. you are making assumptions and when you assume you make an ass out of u and, well in this case you didn't make an ass out of anyone but yourself.

I'm not sure I see a cell phone either, it sort of looks like he is about to adjust his glasses, or in the middle of raising his hand to wave at the guy taking the picture. It also looks like he's in a parking lot tooling around before actualy starting his ride or something like that.

He is riding. Following are some SUV's that I am sure he doesn't own. He is using a cell phone while riding and his helmet is off; that is, he actually bought it before he decided not to use it. As for the lack of motion blur, I would have to know the speed at which the photo was taken.... 1/125th of a second can stop just about any casual rider, especially a lightweight like Kerry.

They had the video clip on the news this morning yes he is riding, and yes he is adjusting his glasses. No cell phone, can't even see it in the picture posted.

I think he is talking into a stick. "Hey Terresa, can you buy me another bike? I think this one has a tire that is losing air.."

He's riding with his helmet either in his hand which is the only one on the bars or its hanging on the hood. Cellphone in his other hand and he's riding, cant park with both feet on the pedals or he's doing a hell of a trackstand,LOL.

Wow man the CIA must LOVE examining blown up documents. Looking closely, it does appear to be a shadow of his hand/glove with a streak of light on his right cheek. If his hand was holding the "phone" I think he fingers would cut across the plane of the phone in our point of view, and they do not appear to be doing so. Sure shows ya how deceiving blown up still can be. Still...why is his helmet off then?

I know what he's holding on to..its a weapon of mass destruction!

It looks like he has two black eyes from telling Theresa to stop campaigning!

Um, his foot is not on the ground. From the looks of it he's exiting a parking lot, not in the middle of traffic anyways.
