Fireworks
My son and I were riding down the road and some car went by throwing some fire crackers at us. Thankfully the fire crackers didn't hit us and landed on the ground popping and cracking but I'm pretty peeved. I couldn't get the plate number as they sped up and went to the major highway and were long gone. It's not like I keep pen/paper or my phone in my hands to keep track of stupid people either. However; if I see this car again, I can't tell you how tempting it is to retaliate.
Just wanted to warn people to look out for this since it's fireworks season. I'm more on guard now when I ride.
Even if I made a report, it's not like the police will care.

You don't need the license plate (though it is helpful). If you call quickly enough and give the cops the color and model of the car or even the approximate size of the car, they can try to track them down. Some people train themselves to remember as much detail as possible.

A report is always good, even if you think it's not going to amount to anything for your incident. A paper trail and prior incidents help Police track down and compound charges for turds like that.

Reminds me of many years ago we lit off a 5 gal Oxy/Actelyne bomb in the field behind the neighbors back yard. Went down to look at the destruction and looked up to my house were we saw my dad and a cop leaning on the hood of a squad car. We scattered back into the neighboors yard. Turned out the cop was there because my little brother had been throwing firecrackers out the car window at people and someone got the plate. Cop didn't care about our bomb as he didn't get a complaint on it.

Fireworks are illegal here in the Bay State. Of course, this doesn't stop the yahoos from getting them. I have heard of occasions where cyclists, joggers, and even Dog-Walkers get fireworks tossed at them from moving vehicles. This typically happens right around this time of year, early July.
Helps if you can get a plate number, but as Richard Ballantine put it long ago, "The wheels of justice tend to miss these characters."
