helmet megathreads

I know we have a helmet discussion sticky but it's more of a fighting ground than a source of information.

If one wants to actually research and make up their own mind, there is no possible way to digest that thread.

I suggest that we need something a little more organized - a repository for arguments, lists of resources etc. Perhaps the first post of the megathread can be full of such links?

I'm not a fan of huge lists of stickies, but that helmet sticky is kinda useless. It's a thread that will always be near the top regardless of stickiness ;-)

Just a thought... Maybe would be too much work to maintain though...

immovable force versus the irresistible object...makes for interesting discussion, but highly unproductive.

Er, that's "immovable force vs immovable object." Or is it "irresistible force meets immovable object" or is it "unstoppable force meets immovable object."

Regardless, I would be an irresistible object, according to the laydays.

When you meet an immovable object, then you should have your helmet on.

Wait, this ain't Trollehiem is it?

I disagree that the sticky is useless. If there were no sticky, the argument would still be carried out in new threads, endlessly repeating. It's the kind of argument that only happens on the internet, and can't be avoided. The sticky keeps it happening in one place.

If only we had music, bike lane, gloves, clipless pedal, Brooks saddle stickies too!

I see what you're saying .
This argument is especially virulent. The helmet discussion is next-level internet insanity- INTERNET HELMET FIGHT. There is a lot of good information there, spiced with insults, links to studies, and angry commentary.
I like that it's all in one place. It's an archive and a monument to the best and worst the internet has to offer.
Plus you can jump in if you're having a slow day at work.

Maybe "we" are just too lazy to do what somebody else has already done. Try this, this, this, and this.

First show us the peer reviewed research on the usefulness of a exactly such a repository in precisely this context so we can attack and praise it.

Are you gonna be attacking or praising? I need a count so I can decide which side I throw in with. I'm an underdawg kinda guy, ya know.
