If she wasn't drunk they wouldn't have done anything. Maybe a ticket.

24 years for killing two people while driving drunk. Not a bad result.

Wow, I don't know which is more surprising, the reasonable sentence or the fact that the killer seems to be taking responsibility for her crime by not contesting the charges.

More like she knew she would be found guilty and was hoping for the lighter sentence. 12 years is alot closer to the minimum of 4 years rather than the maximum of life. Of course, she was likely hoping to only get 4 years per killed victim.

You are probably right. I must have been in shock from the fact that she is actually getting a sentence measured in decades rather than days or months (as is common where I live).

Probably she'll be paroled much sooner if she "behaves well" in jail.

Where does good behavior fit in to the 85%.

She'll be out in ten years per count. Half that if there are good behavior factors. Not bad for killing two people and driving home like nothing happened.

85% means 85% of the total. With good behavior she gets out in 20.4 years.

It is good to hear about a sentence that is realistic for the crime committed.

I agree with the extermination. Maybe if the death sentence was actually carried out for this stuff and for others who've killed people and got out in 15 years or so, maybe we wouldn't have as many drunk drivers and potential murderers on the streets, just maybe about a fourth (I'm just pulling a number out of thin air) of the want be murderers would pause in their thoughts and not kill someone. At the very least it would save taxpayers $45,000 year for housing an inmate. Problem with that in America it would take us 15 years just to fight the case! So there goes over a million dollars in defense fees taxpayers have to pay. At least this woman had the common sense that she knew she was guilty, and knew she needed to pay for what she did, and decided to spare the taxpayers the burden of the cost of a huge trial.

the son of someone at work was killed by a trucker with a suspended license. I'm in favor of a death penalty in cases like that, they will kill again

Twenty-four years was the original sentence: https://www.tulsaworld.com/news/artic...0_ATulsa470220

I wonder how she so quickly had four years knocked off the original sentence?

Which is better, to resurrect an old thread or to start a new thread on the same topic?
