Thank you, given his penchant for making up psychiatric terms and conditions. It was a valid question.

I can't speak for everyone (obviously) but speaking for myself I ride approximately the same distance from a parked car whether there is a DZBL or not. The only exception to that of course being on those roads with cars parked on both sides of the road creating a very narrow "tunnel" between the two rows of cars.

That's an apt analogy, and I like it.

I would say that unlike the suggestion in the article for VicRoads to include them with vehicle registration that they should be installed on all mirrors of all cars as they are assembled. And should also be installed on all mirrors sold as replacements. Bicycle advocacy groups should also donate them to car dealers so that they can be installed on all cars in their lots.

Car wing mirrors? Anyway, Those car stickers are garbage. Because they are inconspicuous. So they are not noticeable.

If my car came with a sticker like that, I would take it off immediately.

I already can't stand the "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear".

First of all, no one would ever notice that sticker there. No one....especially when you're driving. The only time I actually notice the sticker there is when I wash my car. Aside from that, it's pretty much invisible....but still annoying that it's there.

Why stop there?
If that were the case, we should have these stickers on every side mirror:
"Objects in mirror are closer than they appear"
"Look out for cyclists"
"Careful opening the door so you don't scratch the bottom of the door with the curb"
"Look out for cars"
"Look out for motorcyclists"
"Look out for reflection of sun in your eye"
"Check your blind spot"

You see......it'll get annoying.

You folks call them side mirrors I think.

I grew up with cars that had glove boxes, bonnets and boots (that would be glove compartments, hoods and trunks to you!).

Might be a good 'guerilla campaign' for some bike advocacy groups - go out and walk along the streets adding one of these stickers to every car as you go.

Referring to as a 'car wing mirror', almost makes it sound like the car can take flight.

They'd ride even further from parked cars (as in, out of the door zone) if the bike lanes were painted outside the door zone.

I think 'glove box' is bi-coastal? But I do agree on the 'bonnet' and the 'boot'.
