I remember being impressed by Long Beach the only time (1980s) that I went there: a port and an oilfield on top of each other, and the place was clean and attractive. I didn't get to ride but I did get to see the Spruce Goose.
The City of Long Beach got a big cut of one of the largest oilfields in the United States:

Going on holiday to Long Beach to bike ride is not very smart. Look at the Calif prices. A popular chain cafe sells a burger and fries for $13.00. That is $13 for a $$6.00 burger and fries. No thanks.

Yeah, I plan all my cycling vacations based on where burgers and fries are the cheapest.

Hoping cops do not still confiscate bicycles for no registration sticker. Sadly, Honolulu cops will still do so or at least ticket said cyclist, but people without mask have kept them busy lately (they even ticketed the Surgeon General for being in a park with no mask, even with no one else in the park, nice FU to the Surgeon General for coming to Hawaii to support virus efforts).
Even when I did the Pacific Coast tour route, I passed through the LA, Long Beach area as quickly as possible.
