Advocate from Qld Australia!

hello all
Hi everyone. Not much to say really that isn't already in my profile, but I'm (still) tryingbto get back on the bike again after 23 years and some rather severe health issues in the last 8 years. I love collecting bikes. Unfortunately my wife hates me collecting bikes. My beautiful wife by the way 》》》

I do a bit of advocacy on the side, usually separate to the other better known groups due to them never actually having done anything at all short of the odd poster or fun ride. I have strong views on cycling safety but I won't ram them down your throat.

I understand the ghost bike, but what is the message of all the tubes on the bike?

The five names on the tubes are of the four cyclists who were killed during the six month #survive1point5 petition campaign, all by unsafe overtaking from behind. The fifth name of Richard Pollett was for the young lad who's parents prompted the petition to the Queensland government.

The Ride For Richrd was held on the final weekend of the campaign, where the bike was used as the end point for those who rode to the steps of Parliament House in George St, Brisbane on the day. Richard's family was there on the day and loved the names on the bike. The inner tubes were placed on the bike as a mark of respect by those who rode on the day from all over Brisbane, a small number of whom are seen in the group pic.
The bike will soon be stripped, repainted and made available as a permanent memorial to whoever wishes to use it.
