Colored rubber imported tires...Alts, Mechanics or C&V opinions?
This is the forum for weirdos, right? I figure that certainly you must know about colored rubber compounds from various manufacturers. The other day I came across some BRNs on ebay, and I'd never heard of them before. They have some interesting vintage style treads and a nice array of colors, but they seem to run about 2x the price of bottom of the barrel Duros or CSTs. Do any of you have any firsthand experience with these, or are there any other strange imports you've encountered and would like to know more about? In the case of BRN their website was in Italian and difficult to load as well, I sort of had to walk away in frustration for today.

I had pretty good luck with a pair of Origin8 Elimin8er tires (700x25). They're relatively cheap, and are supposed to have a kevlar belt layer for puncture protection. The tires are somewhat heavier than many other brands of road tires, perhaps in part due to the full rubber coated sidewalls.
They seem to have an outer colored layer of somewhat softer rubber, and an inner layer of black that seems to wear for a long time. Maybe it is a wear indicator, but I hit black around 2000 miles, then put on another 2000 or so miles and never hit the threads.
I've seen mixed reviews of the tires, but they treated me well.
Color choice isn't a big deal for me.
