Hub questions

First of all, let me say that I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum. I'm new and unsure where to raise this question at.

Recently built a POV (Persistence of Vision) setup for my bike wheel. I love the way it works and how it lights up my wheels, but I don't like the way I was forced to mount it. Its currently powered by 3 AA's in a pack, zip-tied to the spokes, as close to the hub as possible. The weight of the batteries can be noticeable at times. I want to develop a way to mount the battery pack (or any future power supply) elsewhere on the bike, and route power to the wheel. I've looked into hub generators, but then how would I get the wires for my POV setup back into wheel? Do they sell setups that are basically an empty hub generator (no generator, just a hub with the connections to run wires into in a manner that doesn't twist them up when the wheel spins)? Any thoughts, ideas, or leads in the right general direction would be greatly appreciated.

Dynohubs don't work like that. At least not Shimano. There is no slip-ring transfer of electricity. Dynohubs have the coils mounted to the axle, and the magnets to the hub shell. As the magnets pass the coils, electricity is generated. There's one wire coming out along the stationary axle. Then the axle itself is used for the return.

You can do a search for "slip-ring connector" but I doubt you'll find any that can be integrated into a bike wheel at reasonable cost/effort.

I think your best bet is to create a better (balanced) hub mount, even if it means unlacing (half) the wheel for access.

the coiled copper wire and steel armature, is fixed to the axle and does not rotate, It's the Magnets that rotates around it with the hub shell ..

That is how Hub dynamos are designed ..
