2WD (two wheel drive)

wonder how that drive shaft on the left affects your pedaling, i'd be scared of catching my leg hair or pants in it
|
Wonder if braking force transfers to the front wheel. I bet the extra weight wouldn't be worth it for 2 WD.

http://www.christini.com Christini bikes has been doing it for a while for bicycles and motorcycles.

I'm wondering if the momentum of the front gear drive system would affect braking distance. I remember the first time I drove an AWD Subaru, when they first started building them. The acceleration and braking took a while to get used to. Like you had to overcome the drag to accelerate or stop. If the drive disengaged while not pedaling, I could see it working.,,,,BD

The easiest way to get 2WD is to fit a front electric hub motor it makes pedaling easier not harder, the 2WD is great off road even on a chopper, the looks from MTB riders when they pass you half way up a mountain are hilarious.

Thats gotta have some killer drag, and like said previously, if it could disengage, it'd probably be a lot better.
But still cool and would be fun to play with, especially in the snow. sure beats a 2wd bike I saw in Sears 10 years ago that had the front wheel driven off a cable that ran off the rear wheel. And everything was plastic. |
They seem to be pretty good with machining parts, they probably could make a custom frame to make it look much better and keep the components protected, and run it inside the front fork even. wish i could read japanese.

"TERYO
Anyhow tough to a run on a bad road. It runs comfortably on a snowy road, the sands, stairs, etc. Please enjoy the run completely different from the conventional MTB. 2WD BIKE Mark 29 A Mark 29 is the optimal, when running a town, and when running off-road one. It is foppish, and a stable run is very good and also runs a bad road toughly." |
I have a 2 wheel drive with a cable drive for the front.
