Pedal-Powered Crane
Here is a pedal-powered crane I made for Redmoon Theater. Most of the parts came from Northern Tool's ATV supplies: The wheels & stub axles, with the front axle being their go-kart axle with differential. This vehicle is front-wheel-drive, rear-steer.

My friend Pickles made the armature. I don't know who added the sound system for this particular show.

I geared it way down because the original designs called for it to carry about 800 lbs. Theoretically you could add another set of pedals for the passenger. See also the steering chain.

I had to fabricate my own stub axle brackets.

Did it have a part in the production, or was it used behind the scenes?
It's pretty cool, whatever the original intent.
It's reminiscent of a surrey with fringe on top

The way Redmoon works, they like you to see the behind-the-scenes. Techs and such often wear costumes. So the crew of this beast would be out there for you to see even if the only part that was "on stage" was hanging from the boom.
It's original concept was like a fishing pole, lowering speakers into an "underwater" party. Since then they've also used it to hoist a giant rat into a giant rat wheel.

It's certainly not your typical Alt bike! How long did it take to make, by the way? It looks like a major project.
