A couple of Cruisers

I picked up a couple of Cruisers from yardsales this past weekend. Actually I bought 3 , and sold one , a girls bike , to a friend of my wife. One is a single speed, black Huffy , that had a twin teal colored girls . the one I sold. The other is a Phoenix and is a 5 speed . I spent the last couple of days cleaning them up and put a new set of tires on the copper colored Phoenix . The other is a yellow Schwinn heavy duty , I let go a couple of weeks ago and miss. I'm going to try to get it back. I thought some of you might like to see them . kirby

Thanks , they took a little TLC and elbow grease to get them back in shape. I talked to the friend with the Schwinn HD and she says no problem , I picked up a Trek 220 MTB last weekend I'll probably trade her. I fixed up a 26" MTB conversion to cruiser yesterday that went from a 18 speed to a 6 and will become a single speed , once I get the right freewheel removal tool to change it out . I'm also working on a 24" that I'm fixing up . I just got the frame stripped and rattle can painted today . I've got to go through all the parts and clean and polish them up before I put it all back together . I'll post some pictures of those when I'm finished. kirby

Sweet bikes!

Garage sales are great places to shop. Often times the seller doesn't know what they have, and GREATLY underprices it.

I hope you got a good deal.

Thanks, Only just a few bikes that I paid more than $20 for. Of course after fixing them up , the investment goes up . Once ; I paid more for a can of spray paint than I did one bike. here a few more I'm working on . The one with the yellow fork started out as a 24" Western Flyer MTB , now it's a single speed cruiser. The other "Frankenbike" was a 26" Sterling 18 speed MTB, now it a 6 speed "whatever" that's more comfortable to ride with the BMX bars and stem . I've got some high riser bars ordered . The friend who let me have my Schwinn HD back , really liked the one with the BMX bars . I think I'll let her have it in trade . I'm wanting to get a couple of banana seats , but I'm afraid they won't be as comfortable to ride as a big padded one. Also here's a picture of my Giant Rincon ,I've converted to a single speed. kirby

Was the derailleur already mounted on the first bike or did you do it. I'm looking to make a Klunker with a 6 or 7 sp drivetrain.

The copper colored one came with a 5 speed derailleur , but it would be easy to add one to any bike with horizontal drops. kirby

But they'll still be pretty sweet!

What ever you do, keep the Heavy Duti and marry it or something. The name does not lie, friend.

I got the Schwinn HD back. I had to trade her the 5 speed copper colored bike for it , but it was worth it. It's not going anywhere now !! kirby
