Eau Claire, WI--Trike for handicapped lady.
I lady I correspond with on Another Board lives in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and is semidisabled. She can't drive a car or balance on a two-wheeler, but is capable of pedling a trike or quad. As EC has very little in public transit, she has to frequently beg friends/neighbors for rides, which she doesn't like to do too often.
Unfortunately, she has no money, and most of the charities she has found that would pay for a trike only help children, not adults. Would anyone be willing to build her a conveyance, something (perhaps) along the lines of an Atomic Zombie Delta Runner or Lode Runner (www.atomiczombie.com) ? If so, please post, pm, or e-mail me your contact information and I'll pass it along to her. If anyone can do this, you will be doing a great favor for someone who has been kicked in the teeth by life a bit more than anyone deserves. You will be able to restore a large measure of her independence. |
have not seen any free ones, however there are often 3 wheelers on craigslist for $150 or so.
|
I think even $150 would be beyond her means. Not to mention that anything available so cheaply would probably need a lot of work before it could be rideable.

Elkhound, I grew up near Eau Claire (went to college there). I'll contact some friends back there to find out if they can offer leads.
BTW, there's a town near EC called Elk Mound. Freaky, right?....no?...never mind.... |

Thanks for the offer. If anything materializes, let me know and I'll pass on the information. |
