chrome frame painting ?

hi all, i have a chrome frame, the one for my stretch bmx, i really wanna do the bike flat black.
whats the best way of preppingthe frame, the chrome is in good condit, minimal rust, so i could leave it, but dont wanna !
sanding discs...just etch primer.....any help ???

I painted some old handlebars that were chrome. Well, part of them had some rust and chipping. I just roughed it all up with sandpaper and then primer/wet sanding to get it all smooth and stuff. You can still see where the surface is irregular due to the damage of the rust and chipping, but I don't mind since I only wanted it flat black primer. Power sanding might take it down better and leave the surface prepped better. There has to be a few guys on here that have tackled this before.

its cleaned up pretty well, so screw it, not worth the hard work in this case, gonna post some pics soon, stretched BMX !
