The size, weight and cost of this `bike light` as well as the run time (10mins) clearly establish it as a practical joke rather than a bike light. That some people have so much time and money on their hands that they`re prepared to dump $6.000 and a few hundred hours into a project like this I find more pathetic than amusing. But thats just me.

"This is not meant to go on the road any more than a monster truck or an F1 racer is meant to go on the road. They are the expressions of the strongest and fastest extreme versions of the 4 wheel "car". But we still enjoy watching them in their place."
What it reminds me of is the people that compete to see who can generate the most sound energy in an enclosed car. The "cars" in that case are completely undriveable. It's a cool idea, and whether it's worth the money just depends on how much money you have to fool with.

The guy demonstrates a lot of engineering skill, patience and follow through. I guess it was fun.
But remember, the part that doesn't show, the part where he probably can't ride that bike up a hill and needed to spend hours packing and unpacking it for demonstrations in other locations.
