Wheelie bars!
Inspired by the muscle bike posts, here's a vintage commercial for Whammo Wheelie bars. How times have changed. I can hear the product liability lawyers screaming.

I don't remember every seeing one kid with these. I guess that they may not have sold very well. My little brother had one of those Stingrays and he managed to split open his head without the wheely bar. Just having that cursed' 16" front wheel was bad enough.

Too late in the game, back then, for me to want to have anything like those. Look like they would have been loads of fun.

One or two of the spoiled kids in the 'hood had them. A few kids could do decent wheelies without. I wasn't one of them. Ramps were my specialty. Never forget the day when one of the jerk bully kids tried to jump farther than anybody else. He almost made it. His front wheel caught the landing ramp. Kid hung nose down for a few minutes, then crashed in a heap. Even better, his dad ran out and slapped him hard. 40 years later, me & my buddy still laugh about it. Payback at last.
Whammo made cool ****.

I seen one as a kid back in the 60's when Dad brought one home for my brother and I. Mom seen it and made him take it back before it even was installed!
No problem, we quickly learned how to do proper wheelies, and yes, 40+ years later I still can do 'em!
