Handlbar Bags and Quill Stems Advice?
Hi
I have a bike with a quill stem (Fuji Touring 2009). It has low mounts on the forks but I think a handlebar bag is more convenient to store the type of stuff I want to store.
Any comments/thoughts on using handlebar bags with quill stems? Given its more a compression joint holding the handlebar in place is this advisable or are there maximum weight limits I should know about.

There’s nothing to worry about. Many, Many handlebar bags have been clamped to bars on quill stems over the decades. The stress a large or strong rider puts on the bars and stem is much more than any bag would apply.

Really basic bent steel wire frames, were what bar bags used for support,
in the mid ~ late 70's , when quill stems were all there were.

I'd be willing to bet that even in a good riding position, I put more weight on the bars than the 5# or so a handlebar bag will weigh. I don't have any concern on mine.
