Marin Eldridge Grade

I'm watching this auction currently for a Marin Eldridge Grade. In this threadit appears that the Eldridge Grade has some aluminum tubes in the frame. Is this true?

Also how does columbus tubing compare to reynolds?

Portis,
Nice looking bike. I've got an '04 Pine Mountain, which I looks to have the same frame according to the Marin web site. Not sure where the guy in the other thread got his information, but there's no aluminum tubing in either my frame or the one you're watching.

As for the second part of your question, you really can't compare the two since Reynolds and Columbus are brand names with various grades of tubing within their lines. It would be more accurate to ask something like, "How does Columbus Mega Thron compare to Reynolds 853?" In which case, someone with far more knowledge than myself might be able to help you out.

I actually used to have a link to a table that compared all the different types of tubing, but I can't find it or remember what the site was. But even it wasn't 100% useful since HOW the frame is made can have a greater effect sometimes than WHAT it's made of.

In any case, it looks like the same frame as mine pretty much, and I'm very very happy with it.
